This recipe couldn’t be any simpler. Just process the ingredients in a food processor and your done! The result is a tasty, thick pizza sauce with Italian seasoning.
Ingredients:
- 1/4 vidalia onion
- 3 cloves garlic
- 6oz can Muir Glen Organic Tomato Paste
- 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
- 2 teaspoons dry Simply Organic Italian seasoning or other brand
- 1/2 teaspoon finely ground Himalayan Salt or Celtic Sea Salt
Directions:
- Place all the ingredients in a food processor and process for 1 minute or until a thick sauce is achieved.
- To make pizza, spread the sauce thinly on baked homemade Gluten-free Pizza Dough or Bob’s Red Mill Gluten-Free Pizza Crust, then add Daiya Mozzarella Style Shreds or dollop with homemade Vegan Melted ‘Cheese’ and top with sautéd vegetables* and bake some more, according to your pizza crust recipe directions.
- Slice the hot pizza with an OXO SteeL Pizza Wheel or other pizza cutter, then serve and enjoy!
Yield: Makes about 1/2 cup sauce
*To make a sautéd vegetable pizza topping, heat 1 tablespoon coconut oil in a large sauce pan, sauté 1 thinly sliced Vidalia onion for 2 minutes or until transparent. Add 3 cups chopped broccoli florets, or julienne cut bell peppers, or sliced portabella mushrooms, or a combination of these or other vegetables and sauté for another 2 minutes or until just tender. Don’t overcook. Mix in 1/2 teaspoon ground black pepper and 1/2 teaspoon finely ground Himalayan salt or Celtic Sea Salt. Remove from heat and it’s ready to use as a pizza topping.
