This pleasant iced green tea uses mint ice cubes and a little lemon juice for added flavor. Make it with your favorite green tea, in bags or loose leaf. We like to make ours with loose leaf Japanese Sencha.
Ingredients:
- 4 cups water
- 4 green tea bags or 3 teaspoons loose leaf
- 1 tray ice cubes
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon stevia powder, or to taste
- 1 tray mint ice cubes*
- mint leaves to garnish, optional
Directions:
- Bring water to a boil. Remove from heat, add tea bags or tea leaves. Let sit 10 minutes.
- Pour the tea into a glass picture. Add the lemon, stevia, and regular ice cubes (not the mint ice cubes). Stir until the cubes dissolve and the tea is cold.
- Add the mint ice cubes. Pour the tea into 8oz glasses, and if you like garnish each glass with a sprig of mint. Serve immediately.
Yield:
Makes 4 to 6 servings.
*Mint ice cubes are simply ice cubes with mint inside. To make them, add 1 to 3 fresh mint leaves in each section of an ice cube tray, pour in distilled or filtered water and freeze. Just before serving, add the cubes to a glass pitcher of iced tea or any cold beverage that you think might taste even better with a little mint.
