A cool and tasty blend of leafy greens, celery, and ginger, naturally sweetened with apple and pineapple. Though you can drink this fresh green juice any time you like, you might find that drinking it first thing in the morning is most vitalizing!
Ingredients:
4 large kale leaves and stems, chopped
4 dandelion leaves
2 celery stalks, chopped
1 medium Granny Smith apple, cored, chopped
1 cup crushed pineapple
1/4 cup cilantro, plus extra to garnish (optional)
1/4-inch piece ginger root, peeled
3 cups filtered water
3 cups ice cubes (approximately 18 ice cubes), divided
Directions:
- Add all the vegetables, fruit, ginger and water into a high powered blender container. Blend on low speed then high for 1 minute or until fully blended.
- Add 1 cup of ice (about 6 ice cubes) and blend again until the ice has completely melted. Don’t over blend, or the juice will become warm again.
- Pass juice through a fine-mesh strainer, discard pulp.
- Divide the remaining ice between 4 tall glasses, pour the juice over the ice, garnish each glass with a sprig of cilantro and serve. Best when served right after blending, but stores refrigerated in a covered container for 1 day, which means you can make it in morning to have later that same day. If you plan to have the juice later in the day, be sure to shake with a tight fitting lid before serving.
Yield: Makes 4 (16oz) glasses
